At the outset I should confess to a vested interest as one of the supporters for this crowd-funded book. The Almanac is a smallish book, smaller than A5 and satisfyingly plump.

Each month begins with an opening spread featuring a seasonal illustration, and a list of notable dates for that month. A wonderful little almanac for the coming year! It features lots of useful, monthly information such as tide times, what food is in season, holidays, recipes, seasonal plants, astrological information, what you should be doing in the garden, etc.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I was very disappointed with this title. As a child I would delight in my father browsing the almanac to tell my brother and I what things we could expect from the coming weeks. To a child in the 90's the ability to peer into the future was magical and gave us chance to better plan family activities around the natural world.

By comparison this book is shallow feels tacky. I handled a hard copy in book store and like others have said, the paper is cheap, far too cheap. The internet made almanacs redundant and this title does nothing to reverse it. Having purchased this on kindle to give it a read, I decided to return within 20 minutes after having read two chapters.

The content is scantly lacking in detail. I know for a fact there is much information missing here. I should have been tipped off by the page count. My father's old almanac from is almost a thousand pages, this has barely two hundred For anyone interested in better contents there are plenty of great websites out there dedicated to providing similar information.

I'm not going to list them as they are really easy to find with your favourite searching engine. A lovely little book. Full of bite-sized, diverse pieces of information about each month including the major festivals, what's going on in nature, seasonal recipes, facts, history and legends.

I have already learned something new about January, and am looking forward to identifying the 'constellation of the month' in the night's skies. As a gardener I am interested in the weather information and the moon cycle. As a walker and kayaker I am interested in the tides. Also, reading a chapter at the beginning of each new month helps you become present and grounded, and attuned to the season and what is happening around you. What's more, the book was crowd-funded. This was an absolutely fascinating read full of facts about the world around us here in Britain, from tide times and sun rises to seasonal vegetables and countryside lore.

It's the perfect size, whether you prefer to dip in and out or read the whole thing cover to cover as I did. Andinalink - Cartagena Networking with more than 1.
